Off-exchange-traded Perlen Industrieholding AG is the holding company for the paper manufacturing business of Perlen Papier AG and for the real-estate assets of the Perlen industrial site. Perlen Papier has been producing newsprint and magazine paper since 1873. Both these paper products are graphic papers which are supplied to printers and publishing houses, where they are used to produce newspapers, magazines, journals and advertising inserts.
Perlen Papier AG owns and operates one of the most advanced paper factories in Europe today. It is also the first company in the world to offer climate-neutral publication paper products, which it has done since 2020. Perlen Papier AG is now Switzerland’s sole recycler of waste paper; and sustainability is a key USP for the Perlen paper factory and its manufacturing activities.
Perlen Papier AG has raised its share of the Western European graphic paper market to around 10% over the past few years. For logistical reasons, the company’s geographical sales markets are restricted to a radius of some 700 kilometres from the Perlen production site. In Switzerland, Perlen Papier AG is the clear Number One in the production and supply of graphic papers, with a market share of some 50%.
